Eileen Mignoni is the Communications Director and on the Photojournalism Advisory Council for The Alexia Foundation, a nearly 30-year-old non-profit organization that provides substantial production grants for professional and student photojournalists to produce stories that foster understanding and expose social injustice. She is also a multimedia journalist who has produced work for National Geographic, The New York Times, La Tercera, Yale Climate Connections and others. Her reporting has been honored by a number of leading organizations including World Press Photo, POYi, the National Press Photographer’s Association and the Society for Professional Journalists.
Arab Image Foundation
SamerMohdad was born in Bzebdine, Lebanon, in 1964. Following his graduation in art of photography in 1988 from St-Luc in Liège, Belgium, he started working for the “Agence Vu” in Paris until 2002. He is the author of five books and exhibitions: War Children, Lebanon in 1993, Return to Gaza in 1996, MesArabies in1999, Assaoudia in 2005, and Beirut Mutations in 2013. In 1997, SamerMohdad co-founded the Beirut-based Arab Image Foundation, an organization that seeks to archive and preserve photography from the MENA region. A retrospective of his photographic works has been showed in 2013 at the submarine base in Bordeaux, in its cycle “Photographers for the History” and during summer of the same year at “Rencontresd’Arles in Black” in France. A selection of his works has been exhibited at FotoFest Biennial 2014 in Houston, USA. In June 2015 at Blue Sky center for the photographic arts, in Portland, Oregon, USA and in fall 2016 at the Sol Mednick Gallery, at the University of Arts, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. SamerMohdad has received several awards and scholarships. His works are part of many institutional and private collections worldwide.
Svetlana Bachevanova is a publisher of FotoEvidence Press (New York), a publishing house for documentary photography focused on social justice and human rights. She is also an independent curator and documentary photographer. FotoEvidence has an annual FotoEvidence Book Award that is now known as a FotoEvidence Book Award with World Press Photo after the two organizations started a partnership in 2017.The award is granted by international jury to one photographer and his work is published in a book.
Barbara Silbe lives and works in Milan. She is co-founder and chief editor of EyesOpen! Magazine, an Italian magazine about Photography culture. Since the Nineties she writes about Art, Photography, Technology and Culture for the Italian daily newspaper Il Giornale. She also collaborates with various other Italian publications. Her photographic works follow the same paths and often trespass in others. She is specialized in portrait and travel reportage.
